You've got to love the World according to WHO.

There are some 200,000 people on site and it's fair to say it's a pretty eclectic crowd.

Still far too many scousers mind!

20 years ago " Glastonbury's just full of jobless wankers, scouser scum" etc etc

Now: Glastonbury's just full of 40 year old pretentious hippy wannabies" etc etc

Spouted by people that have never been, but watched some highlights once on BBC3 from their sofa.

Dan
did you see the police at IOW?

I had the job of pulling all their festival gear about.

Re: Glastonbury 2017
Festivals are fun. From my experience they are attended by a pretty wide spread of people, most of whom are there for the music. Of course that doesn't fit with the average "angry at fucking everything and everyone" perspective on here.

This week we'll find out for certain if the IOW is on or off for 2017. Will be my eleventh in a row (and so the tenth anniversary of my first one). Fingers crossed and all that.

Glastonbury used to be attended by real music lovers.
Now it's all about getting a ticket and announcing bragging rights on Facebook

Full of 40 something yuppy types trying to relive their youth and thinking they are cool.

Waste of money.

It's just a British version of The Calais jungle camp.

I never sugeested they don't either but I bet the majority don't

Stoat, no, you just suggest that everybody that goes to Glastonbury should go to small venues, which implies they don't

But people that go to Glastonbury don't support small venues/bands. That's a fact according to Stoat.

I never actually said that of course

Re: Glastonbury 2017

What was your Glastonbury experience like? Personally, I stayed away from the main stages and went and saw a lot of lesser know bands. I then thought, I liked them, I'll go and see them when they do their own tour. I also go to as many local gigs as I an afford the time too. So what proof do you have that the people that go to Glastonbury do not support smaller venues as well? You are spouting absolute bollocks. Of course you'll get some corporate types who just go because they get free tickets, but the majority of people that I met there go to smaller gigs as well. It's just that Glastonbury gives you the opportunity to see dozens of bands in a very short amount of time. If you don't like an act, you move on.

Btw, if anybody likes supporting small acts/venues you should try the Hockley Hustle in Nottingham one year. It was this past weekend, but basically for a small amount of money you get a wristband that gives you access to 24 venues during the day, showcasing smaller bands, mainly local.

A hundred thousand hippies and wannabes sleeping and shitting in a field to the background noise of shit music.

Nope. Not for me

Re: Glastonbury 2017
I think Stoat is getting at the fact that massive festivals like Glastonbury attract a disproportionately large amount of money towards the big act who probably don't need it leaving the poor bastards doing the toilet circuit and the promoters attempting to keep the venues alive skint.

If all the people that went to this commercial circus actually went to see live bands in clubs/pubs etc we wouldn't have such a crisis in the live music industry

Bit odd to dig out people paying to see live music for not supporting live music industry.
